This trip connects the historical part of Switzerland with the part where Italian is spoken. It starts from Lucerne to Lugano or Locarno via Lake Lucerne, Fluelen, St Gotthard and Bellinzona. Your journey begins on a paddle steamer that transports you through Lake Lucerne to Fluelen. Then you are ushered into a panorama train that is headed south towards Ticino.
The train moves upwards through the ranges of St Gotthard making its way through a series of tunnels with the switch-back mechanism to Bellinzona where you can explore the castles that were used for guarding the city during medieval times. Then from Bellinzona your train moves to your destination point.
